OXYGEN
Oxygen is a chemical that is found in air, that is colourless, tasteless and has no odour. Oxygen is necessary for life in both humans and animals. Humans and animal respiratory systems require a steady and contant supply of oxygen to sustain life .
The Oxygen Supply Company supply provides Oxygen in both a gaseous and liquid form in a variety of cylinder sizes and cryogenic vessels
Dentists use a variety of cylinder sizes. Large T size cylinders also know as size 50 are typically used for larger Nitrous Oxide Sedations Systems that are piped throughout the facility. The smaller knee high E cylinders also known as size 5 are typically used for Nitrous Oxide mobile Sedation carts. Typically these carts are used in between rooms and are mobile. E oxygen cylinders are also the cylinders that are commonly used is Emergency Oxygen Kits. (crash carts)
Veterinary Hospitals/Clinics use oxygen in a variety of different applications. Supplementing oxygen is a crucial part of veterinary medicine and treatment. Animals with signs of respiratory distress (Hypoxia) would require oxygen as treatment to help mitigate the distress the animal might be experiencing. Oxygen usage is also a form of recovery after surgery and for triage- Tachypnea-shortness of breath - Cyanosis-abnormal breathing
The supply and administration of oxygen to animals can be in a variety of forms
- holding s hose to the animals face
- oxygen face mask
- oxygen hoods
- oxygen cage
- nasal lines/prongs
- nasotrachael oxygen
- recovery from anesthesia
- intubation
NITROUS OXIDE- N20
Nitrous oxide is commonly known as laughing gas. At room temperature nitrous oxide is colourless, non-flammable, with a slight metallic scent and taste. Nitrous oxide when mixed with oxygen and administered to a patient can be used as pain medication for anesthesia. Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective means of managing pain and anxiety in dentistry.Nitrous oxide also comes in a variety of different size cylinders. K size and size E (5) are the most commonly used cylinders in dentistry.
Air Compressed
Air compressed is basically breathing air that is under pressure. The most common uses for compressed is for power tools and equipment and the filling of air cylinders that are used by scuba divers and fire fighters.
Compressed Air cylinders come in a variety of different sizes including T size (50) and size E (5)
Nitrogen/Liquid Nitrogen
Nitrogen is gaseous and liquid form is colourless, odourless, and an inert gas. Also known as N2, nitrogen makes up approximately 78% of the earths atmosphere.Liquid Nitrogen has temperatures as low as -195 degrees celcius( -320 F) Nitrogen is useful in a variety of applications
a - Cryotherapy- remove skin lesions like warts and actinic keratosis
b - Store cells at low temperature for laboratory work
c - Rapid freezing
d - Transportation of food products
e -To facilitate cyroconservation of animal genetic resources
c - Shrink weld etc
HELIUM
Helium is a colourless, odourless and tasteless , non toxic inert gas. Its most common use if for party balloons and blimps. Medical grade helium is commonly used in hospitals with MRI machines, scanners, and NMR spectrometers.
Oxygen Supply Company supply all these gases in a variety of different sizes. If you are not sure what size you need, give us a call and someone will gladly work with you to determine what size cylinder is the most practical for your application.
